Below you will find answers to some of the most common questions regarding our API. We cover topics from data coverage to account management. If you need more details, please consult the full documentation or contact support.
General & Data Coverage
Why are some vessels out of coverage?
Our API is powered exclusively by terrestrial AIS data. This means that vessel coverage depends on the availability of terrestrial antennas. In areas with limited infrastructure, some vessels may not be detected, which is why they can appear out of coverage.
What are the API rate limits?
Valid API key users can make up to 2000 calls per minute, while trial users are limited to 90 calls per minute.
What happens if I exceed my API rate limits?
If you exceed your rate limits, you will be temporarily banned—1 minute for valid API key users and 5 minutes for IP-based calls. Overuse protection ensures that you are never charged more than your available coin balance.

Can I regenerate my API key?

Are unused credits carried over to the next month?
